Keep It Moving by Becca Fuhrman

Work by Becca Furman @fuhrmz, Boy Howdy, 2022, House-paint on up-cycled drop cloth, 81” x 45”

Becca Fuhrman is an interdisciplinary artist who specializes in multimedia large-scale paintings. Trained in art and architecture, her interests lie in understanding and illustrating personal narratives between people and places. Fuhrman’s work is often autobiographical, depicting a memory or experience through symbolic imagery, creating her own personal mythology, and encouraging onlookers to explore their own. Recurring themes explored within her work are feminism, memory, gender identity + representation, color + pattern play, and movement.

Keep it Moving, a large-scale triptych, explores gender, identity, and representation.  Her work aims to connect with and represent the myriad of people and expressions that make up our experience as people; whether that be feeling turned upside down, like you want to let loose, or the need to redefine your sexuality.

CELEBRATING LIFE

The Legacy of Dr. Ruth Westheimer

In honor of Dr. Ruth Westheimer (1928-2024), we celebrate her extraordinary life and contributions to sex education.

Dr. Ruth revolutionized conversations about sex as a pioneering therapist, media personality, and author. Her radio show, Sexually Speaking, broke taboos in 1980, and her candid, warm approach made her a beloved TV figure. She spoke out on homosexuality, female orgasms, abortion, contraception, AIDS prevention, and safe sex. As an educator, she emphasized consent, communication, and mutual respect. Empowering millions, Dr. Ruth became an international symbol of sex positivity and empowerment.

Rest in peace, Dr. Ruth. Your impact will be cherished forever.

“When it comes to sex, the most important six inches are the ones between the ears.”

— Dr. Ruth Westheimer
