CRAVE Interviews Grace Scuitto on Femininity
CRAVE interviews Grace Scuitto, a creative director and photographer based in Los Angeles whose work juxtaposes the ephemeral and edgy aspects of femininity:
Grace: In my artistic expression, my goal is to encapsulate the multi-faceted essence of women and honor every facet of their being.
CRAVE: What themes are you currently exploring?
Grace: The empowerment of feminism is an integral element of my creative endeavors. My work frequently delves into the intriguing juxtaposition within women, where they embody qualities of delicacy and beauty alongside a sense of danger and audacity.
I'm particularly drawn to addressing aspects of femininity that society often considers taboo, including primal instincts, female sexuality, bodily fluids, as well as themes of rebirth and transformation.
CRAVE: Any current obsessions?
Grace: My current obsession revolves around crafting narratives that empower women. I draw inspiration from classic fairy tales, mythology, and the reinterpretation of historical narratives centered on female characters, granting them a voice and agency. I'm deeply committed to infusing empathy into the more complex aspects of the human experience, unearthing strength within those dimensions.
As a woman, this exploration serves as my means of understanding and redefining the essence of womanhood, aiming to dispel the prevailing sense of shame and hopelessness that has often tainted the female narrative.

Valeria Ciardulli's project, My Perfect Little World, was born out of the pandemic after 22 years of working as an art director at creative communication agencies in Rome. With a minimalist and eccentric approach similar to the small joys of Amelie Poulain's life, her works often include objects she finds wandering around her house—including but not limited to frozen peas and parsley.

Growing into Beauty with Clélia Odette

A note from Swiss-French photographer Clélia Odette on her series Belles Mômes (Beautiful Girls):
“I am revolted by the absence of mature women in the representation of beauty, as part of a long line of generations who have been told and taught that women are beautiful when they are young and that as time goes by, their beauty deteriorates.
Photographing and interviewing women is a way for me to question the still pervasive influence of patriarchy and its perceptions of our bodies and break conventional conditions, legends, illusions, and ideals. Stopping in time through photography allows me to immortalize them and to reveal bodies magnified by their stories, by a time that belongs to them. From a fold under a breast to the lines of their face they reveal their sensitivity, their adventures, their wisdom, their joy, their depth, and their soul.”
