We’re thrilled to highlight the work of artist Clélia Odette, whose evocative art celebrates women’s sexual empowerment and challenges societal norms around beauty and aging.
Clélia Odette’s work is deeply rooted in the celebration of women at every stage of life. Her art unapologetically showcases women’s beauty and sensuality, breaking down the age-old stigmas that suggest sexual desire diminishes with age. Through her vivid and powerful imagery, Odette challenges these outdated narratives and reminds us that women’s desires, fantasies, and pleasures are eternal—regardless of age.
Odette spoke to CRAVE about what she learned from her photography series. Here’s what she had to say:
“What I have learned and think is super important is that younger and older women have a similar level of sexual desire and libido. We do not stop having sexual fantasies or wanting to be desired. From the people I spoke to, it's the same if you are 24, 50, 60, or 70.
That's why I want to show the world that women who are 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90 are beautiful, and there's no reason for us to step back. And we shouldn't turn the spotlight off of them. So, what I want people to understand is that being obsessed with staying young is very dangerous. Because we can't stay young our whole lives, and I also think it's not very interesting to stay young.
When we get older, we still keep our beauty. It's just another kind of beauty, but to me, it's the same. And I think the women I photograph are just crazy beautiful, and the funny thing is that it helps me to think that when I get older, I will be more beautiful.”
Through her work, Odette opens a dialogue on the enduring nature of female pleasure, encouraging us to embrace aging not as a loss of beauty, but as an evolution. Her portraits remind us that sexual exploration and self-love are ageless pursuits.
